The Institute, in collaboration with Aardklop, undertook this project in 2007 in the capacity of project managers.
The goal of the project was to empower local musicians by exposing them to international artists and talent especially in the jazz/blues genres.
Brian Kramer from the Brian Kramer Blues Band in Sweden was invited to South Africa to present two workshops in Ikageng for local musicians during the week prior to Aardklop. Approximately 34 musicians (from Potchefstroom and other places in the province) attended the workshops.
After the workshops, some of the best musicians from the two groups were invited to record a mini CD with Brian Kramer at the recording studio in the Heimat building. 250 copies of the CD have been made which were given to guests at the Aardklop sponsors’ breakfast.
Brian Kramer and his band also performed six successful concerts during Aardklop.
